6 – Respect Works Both Ways 

For the most part, people understand this, however you’d be surprised by how many people who run events treat their temporary event staff with little to no respect whatsoever. While your event staff should perform well regardless, they’ll certainly feel more inclined to go above and beyond for you if you afford them the appropriate amount of respect – Simply put, treat them as you wish to be treated yourself.

7 – Brief Your Team

Your event staff will already have a good idea of what to expect, though you should be ready to brief them thoroughly on their individual and group roles. You should expect to be asked a lot of questions, many of which that you may find to be silly. Remember that your brand and business is likely alien to many of them, to try to be patient and try to help them understand – particularly if you want them to succeed in carrying out your brand vision.

That’s not to say that your event staff are going to be clueless, they’re just going to want to get everything perfect for you and act in accordance with your desires – the easiest way to combat this is to hire an experienced supervisor, brief them thoroughly and let them answer the ‘silly questions’ on your behalf.

8 – Pay Well

Running an event isn’t cheap and of course you’ll have many overheads to think about, but if you want to hire the best you’ll have to pay a little over the odds. That’s not to say that you should break the bank, but if you want to get ahead of your competitors, then pay your staff properly and you’ll attract the best talent to assist you.

9 – Know Their Rights

Save yourself a headache and read up on any necessary legalities when it comes to hiring temporary event staff. When it comes to breaks and so on, you should be aware of who is entitled to what to save argument. If you get this right, you’ll have a smooth and stress-free event with happy staff who feel valued – which brings us to our final point.

10 – If You Love Someone DON’T Let Them Go

If you find that a certain individual really works well, and you’d like to keep them on to carry on representing your brand then why don’t you ask them to stay? Many people who work for temporary staffing agencies are looking to find permanent work, so you’d be doing them a solid as well. They say that ‘if you love someone let them go’, but they don’t know what they’re talking about!
